No, one does not need to download the Glympse mobile app to view someone’s location who does have the app installed. In other words, just one needs the app downloaded; not both.
The Glympse mobile app works across all devices and does not require that all have the Glympse app on their phones in order to share/request location. By clicking on the link they receive as a text message (see below), they can see your location on a map. No sign-up on their end is required.
